Set Up a Twitter Account

The internet is the way of the future in marketing. And in the world of the internet, twitter is king. Twitter, a social networking site, focuses on brief messages (“tweets”), no more than 140 characters each. For the next few Mondays we’ll focus on twitter and how you can make the most of the site to promote your business. For today, let’s get you set up with an account:

1. Go to twitter.com

2. Click the yellow “sign up” button that appears as a pop up in the upper right area of the page

3. Enter all of the required fields and click “create my account”

  • Tip: Be sure to pick an easy, catchy username, as this is how you will direct others to “follow” you on twitter. We’ll get more into what it means to “follow” someone later.
  • 4. You will be asked to select areas of interest to you. You can do so, or simply click the blue “next step” button at the bottom middle of the page.

    5. You will then be asked to find friends through your various email providers. You can do so, or simply click the gray “skip import” button at the bottom of the screen.

Voila! You’re twitter account is now ready to go. Follow us next Monday for your next Minute Marketing Monday tip on how to make use of your new twitter account.
