Follow-up on referrals to people and from people

If you are referring a friend/co-worker/family member to someone you know, follow-up on it. This helps you get someone else’s opinion on who you referred them to. It could be good or bad, but you need to keep your referrals current. You do not want to be known as someone who refers people unworthy business.

Also, I know we have spoken about this before, but always thank someone who referred you a client! They will more than likely be happy to continue to refer you business, but you must acknowledge it. We refer people to other attorneys (many areas of law we do not touch) all the time, and we have stopped referring business to people who do not at least acknowledge our referral.
